The CV boot keeps dirt out of the CV joint that allows your wheel to turn. CV boot clamps keep the CV boot in place and protect it from vibrations while you drive. Failure to keep the CV joint clean and secure may lead to damaged CV boot clamps and eventual CV axle failure.
If the CV axle on your vehicle fails, you shouldn't drive your vehicle until you repair all the necessary parts. You may have a torn CV boot if you notice clicking or popping when turning your vehicle, vibration while driving at high speeds, or grease on the inside of your tire or in your fender well.

I'm missing a cv boot clamp on one of the boots. I bought a hose clamp to replace it. Any thoughts or better solutions?the screw part that tightens the clamp is a lil heavy. So at speed since it will be off weight or kinda out of balance, will that cause anything. Hum or vibrations etc. I don't think so but just checking. Thanks in advance.

if it is still under warranty,you can ask the dealership ended up replacing the hole axle assy. but you should watch out.

How bad is it? Are you loosing grease?

You can put a temporary fix on it now, but just make sure you keep an eye on it. Once those cv boots come loose, you lose grease, and water/dirt get inside which can cause problems later on.
